Click the Apple logo at the top left of your screen and select 'System Preferences.' Click the 'Accessibility' icon, then select 'Display' from the left menu. Anything that allows you to change the color is paid software. Here's MightyMouse. Unfortunately, it looks like MightyMouse has been discontinued:(I would recommend this free software that displays a circle around your cursor. When you haven't moved your mouse for awhile and you move it, it'll display a circle around the pointer.
To disable cursor blinking, change the variable blink-cursor-mode to nil (see Easy Customization), or add the line (blink-cursor-mode 0) to your init file. Alternatively, you can change how the cursor looks when it “blinks off” by customizing the list variable blink-cursor-alist.
